Project: 'BAMMA 6', live sports broadcast
Post facility: In-house
To provide broadcasters all over the world with highlights quickly and efficiently, Giant Film & TV worked with Aframe to log footage from a live event feed using Aframe’s unique tagging service.
Aframe are the Official Content Delivery Partner for BAMMA, Europe's leading Mixed Martial Arts Organisation. BAMMA 6, a series of fights held at Wembley Arena and screened live on the Syfy Channel. The show was produced by Giant and was also the first time this groundbreaking system had been used.
Aframe can add keywords to precise moments on the timecode to enable broadcasters, journalists and sponsors to search for footage based on their own individual requirements. This also provides a fast and unique way for fighters, coaches and training camps to access archived video footage in preparation for fights.
The production team were able to rough cut the footage on Aframe, as it was shot. The BAMMA crew could then put together a package of highlights that could be shared with TV networks immediately after the fights, drastically reducing the turnaround time to produce highlights packages.
For the first time ever, live footage was logged as it was filmed and uploaded online to enable faster and more accurate searching for precise cuts of footage.
Giant Film & TV and BAMMA CEO David Green said, "Aframe gives us a fantastic opportunity to deliver our exciting content in an incredibly fast, easy and accessible way to anyone in any country. This is the first time a production like this has ever happened and the ramifications of this game changing technology will be heard around the world".
